Data and app protection

Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

Stop card numbers, credentials and customer data leaving through web, SaaS, email or AI tools.

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) detects sensitive data in motion and stops it leaving without permission. Nexapp DLP finds card numbers, credentials, identity data and your own custom patterns across web, SaaS, email and AI tools, with one policy for users in the office and at home.

What it does

Sensitive data leaves organisations in ordinary ways: a spreadsheet uploaded to a personal drive, a customer list pasted into a chatbot, a file emailed to the wrong address. Most of it is careless rather than malicious, but the impact is the same. Data Loss Prevention inspects content as it moves. It recognises patterns such as card numbers, identity numbers and credentials, applies rules about where each type of data may go, and stops what breaks them. You get control over your data without stopping people working.

How it works in Nexapp

01

Built-in and custom patterns

Detect card numbers, credentials and identity data, and add custom patterns for your own account formats or project codes.

02

Every exit channel

Rules apply to data leaving through web uploads, SaaS apps, email and AI tools.

03

One engine with CASB and SWG

DLP runs in the same policy engine as CASB, SWG and ZTNA, so data rules follow the user and the app.

04

Into the browser

The Nexapp browser extension extends DLP controls into the browser, where much of today's work happens.

Where teams use it

Card data at a payments company

Card numbers are stopped from leaving through web uploads and personal email.

KYC data at an NBFC

Loan officers use the core system as normal, but cannot upload customer identity documents to unsanctioned apps.

Patient reports at a diagnostics chain

Custom patterns allow patient reports to go to the approved portal only, and block them everywhere else.

Frequently asked questions

Does DLP cover AI tools?

Yes. The same DLP rules apply to text and files sent to GenAI tools, which is how AI security for users keeps sensitive data away from them.

Which obligations does DLP support?

DLP helps you meet DPDP security-safeguard duties from about May 2027 and supports your obligations under RBI's Directions of 31 July 2026.

Responsibility for compliance stays with your organisation.

Does DLP work for remote users?

Yes. Remote users connect through the InstaAccess client, and the browser extension carries controls into the browser, so the same rules apply outside the office.
