Optimized networking

Secured SD-WAN

Bond every link into one encrypted WAN with SLA steering, sub-second failover and built-in security.

Secured SD-WAN combines software-defined networking and edge security on one device. Nexapp bonds fibre, broadband, MPLS and 4G/5G into one post-quantum-encrypted overlay with app-aware steering, sub-second failover and a built-in security suite, managed from the Nexapp Controller.

What it does

Branches depend on applications in the cloud and the data centre, yet many still rely on one link or on costly MPLS. When that link degrades, calls drop and transactions fail. Adding a separate firewall at every site doubles the boxes to buy and manage. Secured SD-WAN puts networking and security on one edge. It uses every available link, sends each application over the path that suits it, fails over when a link degrades, and inspects traffic on the same device.

How it works in Nexapp

01

App-aware steering

DPI identifies each application and sends it over the overlay, direct internet breakout or a gateway, or drops it.

02

SLA tiers and failover

Gold, Silver and Bronze SLA tiers use ICMP, TCP and HTTP probes for loss, latency, jitter and MOS, with sub-second failover. QoS covers five traffic classes.

03

Security on the same edge

IPS, gateway antivirus, web filtering, anti-spam and InstaShield IP reputation blocking run on the SD-WAN device itself.

04

Zero-touch and post-quantum

Sites come up with zero-touch provisioning, and tunnels use hybrid classical + ML-KEM key exchange (FIPS 203) with ML-DSA (FIPS 204) authentication.

Where teams use it

Moving off MPLS

A bank adds broadband and 4G/5G at branches and moves non-critical traffic off MPLS, keeping core banking on the best-performing path.

Retail billing that stays up

Stores with one fixed line and one LTE link keep billing and payments running when the fixed line fails.

Plants and warehouses

Sites in industrial areas with patchy fixed lines combine 4G/5G and broadband under one policy.

Frequently asked questions

Which topologies are supported?

Hub-and-spoke, full-mesh (ADVPN) and site-to-site fabrics, built with a six-step wizard in the Nexapp Controller.

Which routing protocols does it support?

BGP with route reflector, OSPF, IS-IS, static routes and VRF.

Can we start with routers and add SD-WAN later?

Yes. Many customers start with Instaroute routers and grow to SD-WAN and full SASE with the same vendor, the same NexappOS and the same post-quantum encryption.
