IoT/OT security
Find every device behind your routers, segment it, and let it talk only to what it needs.
IoT/OT security protects connected devices and industrial systems that cannot protect themselves. Nexapp discovers devices behind every router, segments them and restricts each to the systems it needs, with support for industrial protocols such as Modbus, DNP3 and IEC 60870-5-101/104.
What it does
ATMs, CCTV cameras, PLCs, meters and sensors now share networks with business systems. Many run old software, cannot take an agent and stay in service for years. One compromised camera can become a path into the plant or the branch. IoT/OT security starts with knowing what is connected. It then places devices in segments, limits each one to the servers and protocols it genuinely needs, and watches for traffic outside that pattern. The device stays as it is, and the network around it does the protecting.
How it works in Nexapp
Discovery behind every router
Devices behind Instaroute routers and Nexapp edges are discovered, and SD-LAN lets your team reach them for management.
Zone-based segmentation
The zone firewall in NexappOS separates devices from business networks and from each other.
Industrial protocol support
Instaroute routers support Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101/104 and MQTT, with RS232/RS485 serial ports for older equipment.
Quantum-safe links and firmware
Device traffic travels over tunnels with hybrid ML-KEM key exchange, and router firmware is post-quantum-signed.
Where teams use it
ATM and kiosk networks
Each ATM is limited to its switch and monitoring servers, so a compromised unit cannot reach the rest of the network.
Renewable energy and utility sites
Remote terminal units at wind, solar and substation sites speak DNP3 or IEC 60870-5-104 only to the control centre.
Factory floors
PLCs on the shop floor are kept apart from office IT, while engineers get approved remote access through ZTNA.
Frequently asked questions
Do IoT and OT devices need an agent?
No. Protection comes from the network around the device: discovery, segmentation and inspection on the router and the edge.
Which industrial protocols are supported?
Instaroute routers support Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101/104 and MQTT, plus RS232/RS485 serial interfaces.
Which product certifications do Nexapp devices hold?
Nexapp's product certifications include IEC 62443, the industrial cybersecurity standard, along with TEC MTCTE, CE and RoHS.
