Detection and response
Extended Detection and Response (XDR)
Turn network, SSE and endpoint alerts into a short list of incidents, each with a timeline.
Extended Detection and Response (XDR) correlates security events from many sources into incidents an analyst can act on. Nexapp XDR correlates network, SSE and endpoint events into prioritised incidents with a timeline, so your team investigates one story, not thousands of alerts.
What it does
A single attack leaves traces in many places: a phishing click in the web logs, a suspicious process on a laptop, an unusual connection at the branch firewall. Each tool raises its own alert, and analysts piece them together by hand. Important incidents get lost in the noise. XDR joins those traces. It collects events from across the platform, links the ones that belong together, ranks them by severity and shows what happened in order. Analysts see one incident with the evidence attached.
How it works in Nexapp
Three sources, one view
Events from Nexapp edges, Nexapp SSE and the Nexapp endpoint agent are correlated in one place.
Prioritised incidents
Related events are grouped into incidents and ranked, so analysts start with what matters most.
Timeline and evidence
Each incident carries a timeline and exportable evidence for internal review and regulatory reporting.
Fits your existing tools
Events can be exported to your SIEM over syslog, and the Platform API supports integration with ITSM systems.
Where teams use it
Incident reporting in BFSI
A bank's security team uses correlated incidents and timelines to prepare CERT-In reports within the 6-hour window.
Small security teams
A mid-sized manufacturer with only a few analysts works from a short incident list instead of raw alerts.
Attacks across many stores
An attack that touches several stores appears as one incident, showing which stores and devices were involved.
Frequently asked questions
Does XDR replace our SIEM?
Not necessarily. XDR correlates events from the Nexapp platform.
Many organisations keep a SIEM for wider log collection and forward Nexapp events to it over syslog.
Which sources feed Nexapp XDR?
Network events from Nexapp edges, events from Nexapp SSE, and events from the Nexapp endpoint agent (EPP/EDR).
How does XDR help with CERT-In and RBI?
A correlated incident with a timeline and evidence helps you meet CERT-In's 6-hour incident-reporting obligation and supports RBI incident-reporting expectations.
